We recently worked with Mylin Design & Co. to develop a custom component for a client appreciation activation they created for Chopard.
During the experience, participants customized their own scent diffusers using dried florals and resin. Mylin engaged me to develop and fabricate the oval bases used in the workshop.
Designing the Oval Form
The base needed to complement the luxury retail setting while remaining intuitive for first-time participants to use.
Its proportions affected how the dried florals could be arranged and how balanced the finished piece felt. Its thickness also had to account for plaster volume, casting time and the overall workshop experience.
From 3D Print to Casting Mould
Once the form was finalised, the oval master was FDM 3D printed in PLA.
Custom mould boxes were also designed and printed to support the mould-making process. This allowed multiple moulds to be produced from the same design, creating a more consistent and repeatable casting workflow.

Casting the Batch
Approximately 40 plaster bases were cast for the activation.
Working with three moulds at a time, each batch had to be mixed and poured within a short working window. The moulds were tapped after pouring to minimise trapped air and achieve a clean surface across the batch.

Final Outcome
Mylin’s team brought the elements together to create a thoughtful scent diffuser experience for Chopard’s guests.
It was rewarding to see a digitally developed form become a physical component that could be reproduced consistently and incorporated into the final activation.
